Description

This terrace comprises four houses, numbered 25 to 31, located on the north-west side of St Stephen’s Square. The building dates from the early 19th century. The construction is of red brick, with a rendered plinth. The roof is slate-covered, and there are three brick ridge chimneys and one end stack. The terrace is two storeys high with eight first-floor windows. The doors, to the right of each unit, alternate with 16-pane sash windows, all set within slightly cambered brick arches. The six-panelled doors (some glazed, with a 20th-century replacement at No. 25) have overlights, notably at Nos. 29 and 31, which feature lattice glazing bars. These doors are set within panelled reveals flanked by fluted pilasters.
