Description
These are a pair of early 19th-century houses located on the south-west side of St Stephen's Square. The houses are constructed of red brick with a rendered plinth, and have a hipped pantile roof, a central brick ridge chimney, and a gable-end stack to the left. They are three storeys high with four windows on the first floor. The doors, positioned to the right of each house, alternate with sash windows with glazing bars, all set under cambered brick arches. The panelled entrance doors are partly glazed and have overlights with lattice glazing bars within panelled reveals, flanked by fluted pilasters. No. 39 features a triglyph frieze. The facade of No. 41 is partially obscured by a 20th-century extension to No. 43 St Stephen’s Square.
