Description

A pair of early 19th-century houses, numbers 39 and 40 Victoria Street, which also includes number 30 St. Stephen's Road. The houses are constructed of yellow brick with a hipped slate roof, a central brick ridge chimney, and two end stacks, along with further chimneys to the rear. The symmetrical facade has two front doors, each with six raised and fielded panels and a plain overlight, set within simple doorcases featuring pilasters. The ground-floor sash windows have 16 panes and are set within round-headed recesses with flat gauged brick arches. The first-floor windows have rendered lintels supported by scroll consoles. A box cornice runs along the top of the facade, which is similar to that of St. Stephen’s Road.
