Description

The building comprises a pair of early 19th-century houses on Victoria Street. Constructed of red brick with a slate roof, it features a central brick ridge chimney and two gable end stacks, which have been rebuilt. The building is two storeys high and has six first-floor windows, with each house being symmetrical in design. Number 38 has a four-panelled door positioned beneath a fanlight with cinque-foiled glazing bars. Number 37 has a 20th-century half-glazed door and a plain fanlight, both set within recessed round-headed arches constructed of gauged brick. The majority of the windows are 16-pane sashes under flat gauged brick arches; the ground floor windows of Number 37 have large-paned sashes with horns. A fascia cornice runs along the top of the building. The group value context recognises the building's contribution to the character of the street.
