Description

A terrace of seven early 19th century houses located on the south-east side of St. Stephen’s Road. The houses are constructed of yellow brick with slate roofs, featuring a single brick ridge chimney. The terrace has two storeys and a basement, and contains 14 first-floor windows. The left-hand bay (number 54) is distinguished by pilasters, with a single pilaster marking the right-hand end. A three-step approach leads to doors recessed within slightly projecting bays, interspersed with 16-pane sash windows, each set beneath a flat gauged brick arch. The doors are four-panelled; some are part-glazed, with a 20th century replacement at number 58. Fanlights with elaborate glazing bars are set within round-headed recesses flanked by rendered pilasters. Number 54 has a side entrance. Basement windows are equipped with small areas containing lattice iron railings; the railings at number 58 are missing, while those at number 56 are broken.
