Description
No. 12 Ipswich Road is a mid-19th century house that has been converted into a school. It is built of yellow brick and features a hipped slate roof with three brick ridge chimneys. The building has two storeys and three first-floor windows on the right side elevation. The entrance consists of a six-panelled double-leaf door, flanked by side windows and topped with a fanlight that has radial glazing bars. This is set in a deeply-recessed porch supported by outer pilasters and a dentilled hood with an iron balustrade. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, set under flat gauged brick arches. The front of the building facing the road includes a hipped gable-fronted wing to the right and French doors framed by a rendered architrave with a hood on consoles. To the right, there is a canted two-storey bay with full-height ground-floor windows and a decorated tile parapet, along with a box cornice.
