Description

Nos. 12 and 14 on Newmarket Road are a pair of houses built in the early to mid-19th century. They are constructed of yellow brick and feature a hipped slate roof with a central gabled pediment and four brick chimneys. The buildings are two storeys tall and have six first-floor windows. The end bays are set back, each with a panelled door and a plain overlight. No. 12 has a part-glazed door with a simple rendered surround and a small hood supported by decorative consoles. No. 14 includes a later 19th-century lean-to porch. The houses have four bays, with the two central bays projecting and defined by brick pilasters. Most of the sash windows have glazing bars and are set under flat gauged brick arches. A moulded box cornice runs along the top.
