Description

Nos. 16 and 18 on Newmarket Road are a pair of houses built in the early to mid 19th century. They are constructed from yellow brick and feature a hipped slate roof with a central gabled pediment and three brick chimneys. The houses are two storeys tall and have four first-floor windows. No. 16 includes a single-storey painted brick porch on the left side elevation, while the side entrance to No. 18 is adorned with a rendered architrave and decorative consoles. The bays, two of which project in the centre, are marked by brick pilasters and contain sash windows with glazing bars set beneath flat gauged brick arches. A moulded box cornice completes the design.
