Description
No. 8 Ipswich Road is a house built in the mid-19th century with extensive later additions. It is constructed of yellow brick and features a hipped slate roof with four brick chimneys. The main part of the house is two storeys high and has three first-floor windows, with end pilasters. There is a step up to a panelled double-leaf door and a fanlight with scrolled glazing bars set in a rendered architrave. To the left, there is a later canted two-storey bay that has large-paned sash windows with horns. The first-floor windows are sashes with glazing bars, positioned under flat gauged brick arches, while there is one casement window on the ground floor. To the right, a later 19th-century three-storey gable-fronted wing features a multi-angular ground floor bay and has three-light and two-light windows on the first and second floors, respectively, with glazing bars under slightly cambered brick arches. End pilasters support a brick pediment.
