Description
No. 88 Newmarket Road is a house built in the mid-19th century, with some later alterations. It is constructed of yellow brick and features a hipped slate roof with two brick chimneys. The building has two storeys and three windows on the first floor, with end pilasters. There are two steps leading up to a panelled door, which is part-glazed, located in a slightly projecting central bay that has a pediment above it. A plain fanlight is set in a rendered recess, flanked by pilasters that display laurel wreaths on the entablature above. To the right, there is a canted two-storey bay with large-paned sashes that have horns, while to the left, a similar square-fronted bay features tripartite sash windows beneath an open pediment that includes a central roundel.
