Description
No. 85 on Newmarket Road is a house dating from the mid-19th century, with some later alterations. It features a yellow brick facade and a concrete tile roof, topped with two gable-end brick chimneys. The house is two storeys high and has three first-floor windows, with end pilasters on either side. There are three steps leading up to a panelled door located in a slightly projecting central bay, which has an overlight with decorative glazing bars. The panelled reveals are flanked by two fluted Doric half-columns that support a dentilled hood. To the right, there is a rendered canted single-storey bay with large paned sash windows, while the other windows of the house also have glazing bars. A 20th-century brick-fronted garage is situated to the right of the house.
