Description

The Former Bracondale School is a house that was later used as a school and converted into apartments in 1999. It dates from the mid-19th century and is built of yellow brick with a hipped slate roof and two brick chimneys. The building has three storeys and features three symmetrical first-floor windows. The main entrance includes a panelled door with glazing bars in the upper part, topped by a plain fanlight, all set within a recessed round-headed gauged brick arch. This arch is flanked by two fluted pilasters and two fluted columns that support a hood with a plain entablature and a paired modillion cornice. The windows throughout the building are sash windows with glazing bars, set under flat gauged brick arches. There is also a single-storey flat-roofed extension on the left side, which has one door and one window. A bronze plaque is located to the left of the main entrance.
