Description
This is a house, dating to around 1840, which is now part of the College of Ripon and York St John and used as student accommodation. It is constructed of yellow brick on a stone plinth, with a hipped slate roof. The north facade has three bays. The windows are sash windows, without glazing bars. A single-storey canted bay window projects from the right-hand side, featuring a cornice and a brick base. The central bay contains a doorway with a shallow brick porch and a doorcase with engaged Doric columns and a triglyph frieze. The door itself has two glazed round-headed panels, and an overlight. Chimneys are situated in front of the ridge and towards the right. The interior has not been inspected, but records indicate the presence of reeded cornices, doors with four sunk panels, and a staircase with plain balusters of square section, a slender mahogany handrail, and elaborately-shaped cheekpieces.
