Description
The gate standards, gates, and railings in front of numbers 104 and 106 Heworth Green date from the early to mid 19th century. They are made of iron, primarily cast iron, and sit on a base of red brick that is rendered in front of number 104. The railings are square in section and feature spearhead finials along with cast panels that display fret and anthemion decoration. In front of number 104, there are four panels, while number 106 has one panel. The carriage gates for number 106 also feature the same railings, complete with dog bars and arch braces, and square openwork gate piers are made from similar panels. Number 104 does not have any gates. These structures are included for their group value as they are an integral part of number 104 Heworth Green.
