Description

Heworth Villa is a house dating from around 1840, built of yellow brick with a hipped slate roof. It is situated on Heworth Green in Heworth, York. The exterior features a quoin-like pattern of projecting corner bricks. The windows are sash windows, without glazing bars, with slightly cambered brick arches above the first-floor windows. Ground-floor windows are timber canted bay windows, set on brick and stone bases, and have dentilled cornices. The front door has two panelled lower sections above a large pane of etched glass, and a plain rectangular overlight. A timber door hood is supported by brackets, with a dentilled cornice matching the bay windows. Chimneys are visible to the left and towards the rear on the right. The interior was not inspected, but records indicate a staircase with two turned balusters per tread and a mahogany handrail.
