Description

Peppers is a house, originally reputedly two dwellings, dating from around 1790, with extensions and alterations from the 1820s. It has a slate roof and stands two and three storeys high, with a three-window front. An entrance door, consisting of six panels and a fanlight, is located in a passage to the left of a three-storey, skew-fronted block that was added to the front of an earlier building. French windows on the left are flanked by panelled pilasters with a dentilled cornice and a small hood. Recessed round-headed panels on the ground floor to the right feature plaques depicting female figures. First-floor windows have sash windows with glazing bars. French windows open onto wrought-iron balconies on the first and second floors of the tower block. Rendered string courses are visible, alongside a plain parapet featuring five urns. A roof light illuminates the stairwell. The rear of the property has a three-span hipped roof. Inside, a ground-floor room on the left features fluted columns, a lugged fireplace, and a moulded cornice.
