Description

Nos. 35 and 37 on Newmarket Road are a pair of mid-19th century houses. They feature a yellow brick facade with red brick sides and a hipped slate roof, topped by a central ridge brick chimney. The buildings are two storeys tall and each unit has four first-floor windows that are defined by pilasters. On either side, there are six-panelled doors set in panelled reveals, each with identical overlights that have glazing bars and fluted Doric half-columns supporting dentilled hoods. The two central bays contain 16-pane sash windows, flanked by smaller first-floor windows, all of which are set under flat gauged brick arches. The overhanging eaves are supported by brackets arranged in groups of three.
