Description

This is a terrace of ten houses at 9-18, The Crescent, located off Chapel Field Road. The houses date from around 1820 and are built of red brick, with some rendered plinths. They have hipped slate roofs and a combination of ridge brick chimneys and three end stacks.

The houses are two storeys high and symmetrical, with thirty first-floor windows in total. Each unit has a panelled door (resembling a double-leaf style) with a lattice-glazed overlight positioned within panelled reveals. These doors are flanked by two Doric half columns supporting a plain entablature and a small hood. Numbers 11, 12, and 14 have simple fanlights with moulded spandrels above the doors. The windows are large-paned sashes, with glazing bars visible on the first floor of number 12. The houses feature a paired modillion cornice.
