Description

Grove Place is a terrace of four houses built in 1827. The houses are constructed of red brick with a rendered plinth, and have a hipped slate roof with two brick ridge chimneys and two gable-end stacks, all of which have been rebuilt. The houses are two storeys high, with eight first-floor windows and six bays defined by pilasters. The houses retain a rendered sill band. A pair of doors is located in the second and fifth bays, each with an overlight; the overlight to No. 37 has glazing bars. The doors to Nos. 35 and 39 are panelled, while the others are 20th century replacements. Pairs of windows are positioned above the doors on the first floor. Nos. 37 and 39 have large-paned sash windows with horns; No. 35 incorporates glazing bars; and No. 33 has 20th century plate glass windows, all set within flat-gauged brick arches. A modillion cornice finishes the composition.
