Description

Vine House and Westmill Stores, also known as the Post Office, is a building located in Westmill village that dates from the 18th to 19th century, with a shopfront added around 1864 and alterations made in the Queen Anne style in 1900. The structure is built of red brick and features an old red tile roof. It is a two-storey house facing south, adjacent to The Dial House on the east side.

The building has an internal gable chimney on the west side and an external gable chimney on the east side with tumbled brick offsets. The south front is constructed in English bond and has a heavy wooden cornice with modillions that returns at the ends, topped with a triangular pediment that follows the verge. There are three windows on the first floor, which are slightly recessed box sashes with six-over-six panes and moulded architraves. To the left of the central half-glazed panelled door, which is flanked by pilasters and features a moulded architrave and a moulded hood on shaped brackets, is a similar window.

The original shopfront, designed in the Regency style, includes a small-paned bow window and a door on the right, with slender panelled pilasters and an entablature that has a deep fascia. The stall-riser is plastered.
