Description
Sissons is a house dating from the early 18th century, and potentially incorporating earlier elements. It is constructed of red brick with blue headers and has steep-pitched roofs covered in old red tiles. The house is a long two-storey building facing east, with two projecting gabled rear wings. It may have originally been built as two separate houses. The right-hand side features a symmetrical five-window façade with a central door, while the left-hand side has a two-window façade with a door where a blank area of brickwork exists at the rear. The brickwork is uninterrupted across the front of the building and includes a chamfered plinth, projecting floorband, and fine gauged brick flat arches over slightly recessed boxed sash windows with glazing bars. The front door is made of six panels, with the top two panels glazed, and is set within a moulded doorcase featuring an entablature, swelled frieze, and dentilled triangular pediment. There is one central brick chimney and two end chimneys. A projecting gable stack is located on the south side, displaying tumbled brick offsets. Similarly tumbled brick kneelers are present on the gable parapets. A timber-framed tile privy is linked to the main house by a brick-on-end wall, positioned on the eastern boundary.
