Description
Dial Cottage is a house that dates from the 17th century or early 18th century, with a west extension added in the 19th century. It was restored in 1915, as noted by a plaque on the front. The building features a timber frame that is roughcast, with the lower floor on the south side weatherboarded and the east gable facing the roadside adorned with panelled pargetting. It has a steep thatched roof. The west extension is made of lower red brick with a roughcast upper floor and a steep red tile roof. The symmetrical south front has two windows on each floor and a central door. The windows are three-light small-paned flush casements, with a dripboard above the ground floor. The entrance features a battened plank door with a small hood supported by brackets. The house has a two-room end chimney plan, with an external gable chimney on the west side that is now enclosed within the extension.
