Description
Old Gaylors is a house located in Westmill village, dating from the 17th century or earlier. It features a timber frame construction with roughcast and a stucco plinth, topped with steep old red tile roofs. The building has a half-hip at the south end and is designed in a three-unit layout with a central chimney positioned a third of the way from the south end. There is a large internal gable chimney at the north end and a lower one-and-a-half storey half-hipped extension that includes a projecting gabled front wing at the north.
The front of the house has three large windows on the first floor, which are three-light flush small-paned casement windows. There are also three small leaded-glazed openings that appear to be for closets, which are mirrored on the ground floor. Here, a central panelled door with a 20th-century broad hood on pilasters has replaced the middle large window. Additionally, there is a four-light window similar to those on the main house located in the projecting gabled wing on the left.
