Description
Pilgrims Row is a block of five houses located in Westmill village, built in the early 18th century for Samuel Pilgrim and altered in the early 19th century. The houses feature a timber frame with roughcast exterior and steep old red tile roofs, along with a slate lean-to at the rear. They are a two-storey continuous row that adjoins The Pilgrimage on the east and faces south.
Nos 1 and 2 were originally a handed pair, with No 1 extended by one bay to the east. No 4 may have also been a similar handed pair. Nos 5 and 6 have a higher and more regular frontage, showcasing flush box sash windows with 6/6 panes, moulded architraves, and four-panelled flush-headed doors, which also have similar architraves and small hoods. Nos 1, 2, and 4 have similar doors, with casement windows generally, but No 4 features an 8/8 paned sash window to the left of its door and one 6/6 paned sash window on each floor of the eastern extension to No 1. This group of houses presents a picturesque appearance alongside Pilgrims House, which is next to the village inn.
