Description
Pilgrims Close consists of four almshouses built in the 18th and 19th centuries, restored in 1929 for the Greg family in memory of T T Greg of Coles. The buildings feature a timber frame with roughcast and steep old red tile roofs. They are arranged as two pairs of one and a half storey houses facing west, adjoining Pilgrims House to the north. Each house shares end chimneys and has doors arranged in pairs. There is one window on each floor of every house, with the upper window extending through the eaves in a flat-topped dormer that has a moulded cornice. The doors are moulded plank style in broad frames, topped with small hoods on brackets. The windows are small-paned, two-light casements. A low iron railing runs in front of the houses. In the middle, there is an oval stone plaque inscribed 'Dedicated in memory of T T G to Westmill by M G', with '1929' on a separate tablet. The almshouses are included for their group value.
