Description
Old Thatch is a house located in Westmill village, dating from the 17th century or earlier, with a west crosswing added in the 19th or 20th century. The building features a timber frame resting on a stucco sill, with the eastern end exposed, while the rear is weatherboarded and the front is roughcast. It has a half-timbered crosswing and a lean-to porch on the west side. The steep thatched roofs include a half-hipped roof on the west wing. The house is likely a two-unit end-chimney design with one and a half storeys, having been enlarged beyond the chimney. It faces north and includes a large double-window eyebrow dormer and two small-paned windows below. The west wing has a three-light casement window on each floor, and the roof slopes down over the doorway, which features a battened door. There are windows at two levels in the rear wall of the older part of the house, and a canted bay window with a thatched roof is located on the west end.
