Description

The Pilgrimage is a house located in Westmill village, dating from the early 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and early 19th centuries. It features a timber frame that is roughcast, topped with steep old red tile roofs, including a half hip at the west corner and a slated rear outshut. The building is L-shaped and has two storeys, positioned on a corner and facing south. The layout consists of a two-room plan with rear lateral chimneys and a service wing to the northwest.

The south front has two windows on each floor and a central door. The windows are flush box sash types with moulded architraves and eight over eight panes, and there are shutters on the lower windows. To the right of the door is a triple sash window. The entrance features a four-panel flush beaded door set in a narrow moulded surround, topped with a small hood. A 'Royal' firemark is displayed on the west gable above a canted bay window, which has leaded lights and a tiled roof. The west side of the service wing includes two- and three-light flush casement windows. The lean-to rear part has a three-light mullioned window with plate casements. Inside, the main room has an entrance with three chamfered cross-beams and chamfered joists, which feature ogee-and-bar stops. The building was formerly known as Parliament House.
