Description
Wallscroft is a house located in Braughing village, originally built in the 17th century and refronted in the early 18th century. The structure features a timber frame that is roughcast, with an 18th-century red brick facade. It has a steep old red tile roof, which includes a quarter-hip at the north end and three gabled dormers on the roofslope. The rear wing, which is two storeys and painted brick, also has a tile roof.
This L-plan house faces west and includes a large internal gable chimney with three flues at the south end. The front is symmetrical with three windows, a stucco plinth, a plastered floor band, and a dentilled eaves cornice. There are three renewed 2-light casement windows in the dormers and flush box sash windows with 8/8 panes (6/6 panes above the door). The windows feature segmental gauged arches and a tall panelled pilastered doorcase, which has a full entablature above a six-panel door and a rectangular fanlight.
Inside, the layout consists of two rooms separated by an entry passage that leads to the stair in the rear wing. The interior also boasts large axial beams.
