Description
The Golden Fleece Public House is a house that dates from the 17th century or early 18th century and was refronted in the 19th century. It features a timber frame that is roughcast, with a red brick sill that is stuccoed on the west and north sides. The rear part of the building is weatherboarded. The roof is steep and covered with old red tiles, half hipped at both the north and south ends. The structure has two storeys, a cellar, and attics, arranged in a three-unit plan facing west.
There is a large central chimney located one-third from the north end, which was rebuilt in the 18th century, along with small later external gable chimneys at each end. The front of the building is symmetrical, featuring three gabled casement dormers on the roof slope and three flush sash windows on the upper floor. The central entrance consists of panelled and glazed double doors set in a heavy moulded frame, topped with a flat moulded hood supported by curved brackets with pendants. The outer first-floor windows have triple-sash windows with labels beneath them, and narrow sash windows with labels flank the entrance. Additionally, there is a one-and-a-half storey 18th-century rear extension at the northeast, which is plastered and tiled.
