Description
Fleece House is a house located in Braughing village, dating from the 17th century, with extensions and a ground floor cased in brick from the early 18th century. The building has a timber frame that is plastered in panels, while the ground floor is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond. There is a near-contemporary parallel rear extension made of red brick, with a timber-framed and plastered upper floor. The house features steep old red tile roofs that are half-hipped.
It has a central passage and a two-room plan with end chimneys, facing west, and a two-room rear range with a central chimney. The structure is two storeys high with attics, featuring an internal gable chimney and a gable parapet supported by moulded kneeler corbels at the south end. There is a later external chimney at the north end. The symmetrical west front has three windows and a central door. The building includes a painted brick plinth, flush box sash windows with moulded frames and 8/8 panes on the upper floor, and larger sash windows with 10/10 panes and segmental arches on the ground floor. The entrance features a pilastered doorcase with a moulded flat hood on brackets, a moulded door with two vertical panels, and a rectangular fanlight above.
