Description

House. Dating from the 17th century or earlier, it was altered in the 18th and 19th centuries. The house is timber-framed with roughcast plaster on a brick plinth. It has an old red tile roof, hipped at the north end. It is a long, two-storey building facing east along the road. A hip-roofed, two-storey weatherboarded rear wing is connected, with a chimney at the junction. A rear lateral chimney is located on the north part of the building. A south end bay, set on a different alignment, is likely an addition. There are four windows to the first floor, with flush box sashes containing 8/8 panes and moulded surrounds. Similar windows on the ground floor have 19th-century margin-light sashes. A six-panel fielded door, set up three steps, has a moulded frame and flat hood. The north end is plastered and lined to resemble ashlar, with a flush box sash window with 8/8 panes on the first floor and a triple sash window below. A cased axial beam is visible in the north end.
