Description
George House, located at 119 Bridge Street in Wye, is a house and shop that was formerly an inn. The building dates from the 18th century and features a rendered exterior with red brick and tile-hung rear wings. It has a plain tiled roof and stands two storeys tall with an attic, set on a plinth with quoins. The building includes a plat band and a dentil eaves cornice that adorns the hipped roof, which has a flat-roofed dormer on the left side and stacks on both the left and rear.
The front facade showcases three two-storey canted bays with glazing bar sashes, and there is an oriel window to the right with a carriage entry below. The eaves cornice extends over all four projections. To the left, there is a six-panel door topped with a cornice supported by brackets, leading up to three moulded steps with a ramped iron handrail. The large two-storey rear wing is partially tile-hung and features glazing bar sashes and wooden casements.
