Description

This is a farmhouse located at Standon Friars, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of grey and yellow brick and features a hipped slate roof. The building is two stories high and has an L-shaped plan, facing west, with a kitchen range at the northeast.

The front of the house is symmetrical, with a chamfered plinth, a projecting band at the eaves, and pilasters at each corner that frame the narrower central bay. There is a stone floor band that projects less than the eaves. The outer bays have recessed sash windows with 8/8 panes, while the central door has a window above it with 6/6 panes. To the right of the door, there are French windows.

The doorway is round-headed and set in a round-headed recess, featuring a six-panel door with reeded pilasters, corner blocks, and paterae. Above the door is a narrow cornice and a cusped fanlight. The pilasters have painted stucco capitals with echinus moulding, supporting a wide plastered eaves soffit with brackets.

On the north side, there are three windows with corner pilasters, a single-storey canted bay sash window, a floor band, and a door with a segmental arch that leads up three steps to a timber porch.
