Description
Little Bear is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier and was cased in brick in the 18th century. It features a timber frame that is roughcast, with a weatherboarded apron on the north side and a rear wing. The rear extension has fan pargetting, while the west front and south end are covered in red brick up to the eaves level. The building has a two-storey range that faces the street, a two-storey rear wing, and single-storey outhouses aligned at the back. A large central chimney is located at the junction of the rear wing. The symmetrical brick front includes a floor band, two windows on each floor, and a central door. The windows are flush box sash style with moulded surrounds, featuring three panes over three and segmental arches on the ground floor. The entrance has a four-panel half-glazed door set in a moulded doorcase, topped with a flat hood supported by shaped brackets.
