Description
Numbers 32 and 30, known as Derry House, is a former coaching inn or commercial establishment that has been converted into two houses. It dates from the late 18th century and was renovated in the early 19th century. The building features red and blue chequer brickwork and has a hipped slate roof. It is a long, two-storey structure with rear wings and a courtyard accessible through a tall central carriage entrance.
The front of the building is asymmetrical, with overhanging eaves and a plastered soffit. It has eight windows, one of which is a blank recess. The windows are recessed sash windows with 8/8 panes and deep segmental gauged arches. On the lower floor of the left side (No 32), there is a moulded doorcase with a flat hood supported by moulded brackets, which has been renewed. To the right, there is a six-panel door in a moulded panelled doorcase with an early 19th-century reeded surround, corner blocks, and a flat hood that extends over a simple projecting shop window. The northern flank of the building features projecting chimney stacks.
