Description
No. 42 High Street is a 17th-century building that was originally three cottages but has been converted into one house. It features a timber frame with roughcast render on a low stucco plinth and a weatherboarded apron. The steep roof is covered with old red tiles and the building stands two storeys high, with three windows facing east. The entrance door is located at the left end and is a six-panel flush beaded door topped with a flat hood supported by moulded brackets. The windows are square flush casements with Gothick cast iron frames. There is an external gable chimney on the south side. The roof structure has side purlins, and the rear slope has been raised and slated to extend to the back. Additionally, there is a lean-to slated extension on the southern half of the building.
