Description

High Ash Farmhouse is a farmhouse, probably built in 1819, featuring Flemish bond brown brickwork and a graded grey slate roof. The building stands three storeys high and has three windows. It has a stone plinth and eaves cornice. The entrance front includes a gabled porch that has been added, along with a late 20th-century bow-fronted flat-roofed bay window to the right of the porch. The windows are almost flush sashes, with a 12-pane window to the left of the porch, 20-pane unequal sashes on the middle storey, and a 6-pane window on the upper storey. The openings have margin-tooled wedge lintels and projecting stone cills.

On the garden front, there is also a gabled brick porch added, with a late 20th-century bow-fronted flat-roofed bay window to the left of the porch. There is a 16-pane sash window to the right of the porch, a tooled stone band at the first floor, 16-pane sashes in the middle storey bedrooms, and a 12-pane window on the landing, along with 6-pane replaced windows on the upper storey. The lintels and cills are similar to those on the entrance front. The handsome end gables feature a dentilled brick course at the eaves level and dentilled verges, with flush gable chimneys.

The former dairy wing, now part of the house, has a plain band at the first floor on the garden side only and dog-tooth brick eaves, with a blocked round archway on the yard side. The slate roof is in two bands: small near the ridge and large below. The wing has been re-windowed and has a small extension on the end. Inside, there are 6-panel doors, some sawn oak beams, and an oak stair that has one flight per storey, featuring a curtail, fretted brackets, and stick balusters.
