Description

A group of farm buildings, dating probably from the early 19th century, form the west and north sides of the farmyard at Agden Hall. The buildings are constructed of brown brick with a roof now covered in corrugated asbestos.

The stable and barn range is two storeys high. The lower storey has four divided doors set within recessed round-arched openings, along with two casement windows, all with curved arches above. The barn entrance has a decorative panel of rat-trap bond brickwork above it. Triangular air vents are visible on the stable section, while diamond-shaped vents are present on the hayloft. Stone copings are to the gables. A single-storey link, similarly detailed, connects the barn to the shippon, although it incorporates a 20th-century brick outshut along its front.

The shippon, on the north side of the yard, was extended in the later 19th century. It features a single divided door with a wooden lintel and one blocked doorway. Four hopper windows are set under curved arches, and there are two loophole breathers to the cowshed. The hayloft has two pitching eyes and two diamond vents. The later extension includes an altered casement to the lower storey and a corrugated iron infill to the upper storey. A wide sliding door, with a concrete lintel, has been inserted into the east gable. The brick outshut at the rear has a corrugated asbestos roof.
