Description

This is an L-shaped range of farm buildings attached by a wall to High Ash farmhouse, built in 1819. The buildings include a shippon, barn, stables, coach-house, and hay lofts. The west wing features Flemish bond brown brickwork with pale headers, while the south-east wing is two storeys tall and constructed in English garden wall bond, topped with graded grey slate roofs.

The west wing is nearly symmetrical, with a driftway in the corner under a basket arch and a coach-house door set in a full-height arched recess near the outer end. There is a slightly projecting centrepiece with a coped gable that contains an arched recess with a round-arched barn doorway, a hoist-arm for the loft above, and a datestone panel inscribed with "TB:1819." There are basket-arched doorways on either side of the centre, with the one on the right altered, as well as basket-arched loading doorways to the loft and three "diamond-and-a-half" brick vents.

The south-east wing rises to three storeys and features basket and segmental brick arches. All doors are boarded, with some divided. The building includes sandstone padstones, keystones, and hinge and latch-stones. The outer sides are more simply detailed, with similar openings, some altered, and five pitching eyes, one of which has been enlarged into a round-headed loading door. The upper storeys also have diamond and diamond-and-a-half brick vents. This attractive range of buildings complements the farmhouse and is connected by a wall.
