Description

An early 18th-century pair of cottages is situated on the north side of College Road, Cheshunt. The cottages are constructed of red brick with a steep old tile roof and end chimney stacks. They are arranged over two storeys and have attics. A prominent floor band runs across the front. The ground-floor windows are 3-light casements with segmental heads. The first-floor window at No. 40 retains an original pegged oak frame. Gabled casement dormers are present in the roof. A later pair of doors is set beneath a segmental arch. A one-storey extension was added in the 19th century on the west side.
