Description
Halsey Masonic Hall is an early 18th-century building that was refronted around 1800. It features painted stucco and a hipped roof made of Welsh slate, with plain projecting eaves. The hall is two storeys high with a slight central projection and a floor band. The facade includes a symmetrical arrangement of windows, with two recessed sash windows on each side of a central entrance, making a total of five windows. The entrance consists of a six-fielded panel door topped by a semi-circular fanlight with thick glazing bars. This is framed by a grooved surround with a console key, Roman Doric pilasters, and a fully detailed entablature. There is a modern flat roof extension on the front south side and additional extensions at the rear north side. Inside, there is a central staircase with large single balusters, and the front north room features fielded panels and a Doric triglyph entablature.
