Description
The Grange, located on Crossbrook Street in Cheshunt, is an early 19th-century building constructed of yellow stock brick with stucco dressings. It features a square plan main block topped with a modern-dressed parapet and rises three storeys high. The façade includes three replacement 2/2-pane sash windows, with the ground and first floor windows set in shallow recessed arches; the ground floor windows are round-headed, while the first floor windows are segmental-headed. A four-panel double door is adorned with a segmental-headed, inverted radiating fan. Shallow pilasters with a groove pattern frame the entrance, and the building is topped with an entablature that has guttae drops and a replacement cornice.
The rear elevation showcases a half-glazed door surrounded by reeded pilasters, paterae, and a grooved cornice, with a similar smaller door on the left-hand extension. Notably, there are good cast iron curved front railings. Additionally, there is a mid to late 19th-century two-storey, two-window extension on the north side, which features a ground floor triple-hung sash window.
