Description

A pair of attached cottages dating from the mid-18th century, located on the north side of High Street, Earls Colne. The cottages are timber-framed with plastered walls and a roof covered in handmade red plain tiles. A central stack serves both properties. The cottages are one storey in height with attics. They have a three-window facade featuring 20th-century sash windows. A small casement window is positioned below the eaves. Two 20th-century gabled dormers, each containing a casement window, light the attics. A 20th-century door is found at number 3, set within a simple doorcase with a moulded architrave and a pediment head. Number 5 has an early 20th-century half-glazed door, similarly enclosed within a doorcase.
