Description
The Old Grange is a building located on College Road in Cheshunt, likely dating from the late 17th century, with a facade added around 1840 in the Tudor Gothic style. The structure features plaster and roughcast with a Westmoreland slate roof. It is three stories tall with a five-window main block and a projecting one-story wing on the west side; a similar wing on the east side is part of Cheshunt Cottages.
The building has a gabled porch with a four-centred arch door, which is flanked by a modern flat roof extension. The main block showcases three gables with cusped barge boards, and the first and second floors have sash windows with moulded sills and Tudor grip moulds. There is a late 17th-century modillioned cornice board over the first floor, and the building features chimney stacks at the center and ends, topped with patterned terracotta pots. The double-roof extension on the east side also has cusped bargeboards.
