Description

This coal duty marker, dating to around 1861, is located on a railway embankment approximately 85 meters south-east of Theydon Park Road.

The marker is an obelisk made of stone, standing about 4 meters high. It features a tapered shaft that rises from a wider tapered base measuring about 900 millimeters. The base is often inscribed with '14 & 15 VIC C 146' and/or displays a full coat of arms of the City of London, complete with supporting beasts and motto.
