Description

The Bull Public House is a public house that dates from the 17th and 18th centuries. It features a timber frame with render and part painted brick. The building has a basic 'L'-shaped plan and is mainly two storeys high, with single storey extensions at the rear and to the north-west. The main front has a parapeted gable with chimney stacks at the south-east end and a peg tile roof. On the first floor, there are two double hung sash windows, each with two vertical glazing bars and plastered surrounds, along with a central painted plaster relief panel depicting a bull. Below this, there is a long painted timber sign board. The ground floor has two similar double hung sash windows and a 20th century entrance door with side lights.

To the north-east of the main block, there is a two storey 17th century range that runs at right angles to the road, featuring gables at the front and rear. This range has a 19th century three light casement in the attic above two small double hung sash windows. On the ground floor, there is an early 19th century canted bay with double hung sash windows that have small panes. This earlier section includes some exposed timber framing and has a substantial red brick central ridgeline stack. Additionally, there is a large 19th century gault brick chimney stack with one battered face that stands against later extensions to the side.
