Description
The Cottage is a late 16th and early 17th century timber framed building. It is primarily timber-framed and clad in black weatherboarding, with a two-storey design and a higher eaves line over the southern half. The roof is covered in gabled peg tiles. A single-storey rear extension block, of a slightly later date and also with a gabled peg tile roof, adjoins the main structure. A 20th-century extension with a lean-to asbestos roof is situated further to the rear. The building features a near central square ridgeline stack and a gault brick stack on the flank of the rear extension. Windows are a mix of 19th and 20th century casements, some with small panes and others with a single horizontal glazing bar. A 20th-century gabled porch hood is positioned off-centre on the front elevation. The internal frame is exposed, displaying jowled posts and large, square-section floor joists. Inside, a 17th-century chimney stack with an inglenook fireplace remains.
