Description

The London Coal Duty Marker, located on the verge near number 67 on Harper Lane in London Colney, was erected between 1861 and 1862 to indicate the limit of coal duty in the London area. This cast iron post stands about one and a half metres high and has a square plan with chamfered corners. The capital features roll-mouldings and displays the arms of the City of London on its front face. Additionally, there is raised lettering on the front face of the pier that reads "24 VICT." The marker was cast by Henry Grissell iron works at Regents Canal in London.
