Description

No 65 and No 66 on High Street are two houses, now also including a flat, built in the mid-18th century with some mid-19th century and late 20th century alterations. They are constructed of brick with a tiled roof and have chimney stacks on the ridge. No 65, located to the left, is accessed through a central passageway, while No 66 is to the right. Both houses are three storeys tall with cellars. They feature a dentilled brick cornice and a plastered plinth.

There are six windows on the front: the upper storey has eight-pane boxed sashes beneath rubbed brick heads with wooden sills, while the second floor has four top-hung casements. The ground floor has four 4-pane boxed sashes, also under rubbed brick heads, with the window to the right of centre being in a larger opening. The entrance to the passageway for No 65 is to the left of centre, featuring a wooden architrave, an overlight with horizontal iron bars, a late 20th century flat canopy, and a four flush panelled door.

The entrance to No 66 is situated between two windows on the right, also with a wooden architrave, overlight, and a flat canopy supported by scroll brackets. The door here has four raised and fielded panels, with the upper two being glazed. No 66 is positioned about one metre forward of No 67 and includes a plate glass sash on the first floor of the return wall, along with a 4-pane boxed sash on the ground floor.
