Description
Number 64, originally a workhouse and later a house with hornworks, is now a house with garages. It was built in 1737, with mid-19th century and some late 20th century alterations. The building is constructed of brick and has a tile roof. The front features a two-storey house with a long range extending to the rear, where the garages are located in the south-east front, and there is a stack at the junction. The house has two storeys above cellars, with an attic that is lit by three gabled dormers. It has a moulded wooden cornice and a plastered plinth. There are five windows, which are wooden cross windows set under rubbed brick heads. The ground floor has a central entrance approached by two stone steps, featuring a moulded wooden architrave (the pediment has been removed), a 2-pane overlight, and a two-leaf door, each with four raised and fielded panels. The rear range has a south-east front with two storeys and an attic, also with two gabled dormers. There are two windows on the first floor and seven garages with flat lintels on the ground floor. The north-west front has ten wooden cross-windows under rubbed brick heads on the first floor.
